Suit yourself, be your Valentine! Time for another one of my Ted talks/ Ted writes lol. Whichever way you see it, or choose to call it, I’ll take it.
How about being your own Valentine?
Jully, “this is ridiculous “i can hear you say from over here. If you read my post here you will think otherwise.
Yes, have you tried loving yourself just as much as you want someone else to love you?
Have you taken yourself out on a date lately?
When was the last time to took a good look at yourself in the mirror and actually smiled at your self like you would want that special someone to smile at you?
Growing up, the phrase “Valentine “ used to be a thing, not particularly for me but through high school and university, i would hear people talk about vals night (Valentine for short) escapades and all but not much hype about the heart breaks that follows.
Back then if you weren’t on the hype about Valentines day, you definitely weren’t one of the cool babes. Back then, i clearly wasn’t. Lol
People have this misconception that Valentine can only be fun when you have a man/ someone to spend it with but they forget that you have to love yourself to be able to recognise Love when you see it.
People forget that you can’t pour from an empty cup.
These days some people talk self-love which is great, as a mum of four, i think i am in the best positive to say how important that is.
Here are a few tips to being your own Valentine.
Get a good sleep
You might think this shouldn’t be on the list but believe me it is just as important as every other thing on this list. A good sleep is always the first step to felling good and looking after yourself, with a good sleep, you feel refreshed and less cranky.
Go for a walk
Another great step to begin your own valentine. A good walk clears your head, releases the happy hormones and of course makes you feel lighter, better and happier
Wear your favourite outfit
You know that outfit you’ve been waiting for a special occasion to wear it? Now listen, you are that special occasion.
Go get it out, intentionally put on your best make-up, Favourite colognes and head out.
Take yourself Out
On a date maybe, to see a movie, a spa day or a deep tissue massage appointment, walk around the town leisurely, just taking in all the beauty around you.
Treat yourself
To something Special, buy yourself a Valentine’s Day present, a flower, you deserve it honey. Someone doesn’t have to give it to you for you to realise how special you are.
Cook yourself your Favourite Meal
Another fab way to treat yourself, if you are trying to cut costs or not be a bit conservative with money. This is great but for a mum like me who might want some me time, you might have to eat out or make it a Galantine affair with you babies. Hahaha
Having someone with you to celebrate Valentine shouldn’t be a necessity, Suit yourself and be your own Valentine.
